Abigail Louise Brown

A fight with her boyfriend ended deadly for a 27-year-old Englishwoman. She was found strangled to death in her apartment on Phuket on Saturday morning.

“The boyfriend notified us,” Pol Capt Somgiad Sarasit from Chalong Provincial Police Station told Phuket Hot News. “He said his girlfriend had strangled herself in her apartment on the fourth floor in Phuket’s Chalong subdistrict.” After confirming the address, police officers, rescue workers and paramedics were sent to the apartment on Soi Ta-iad Rd.

The victim, 27-year-old Abigail Louise Brown, was laying face-up on her bed. The area around the neck showed bruises and pressure marks. At the end of the bed, officers found a loose bed sheet which they bagged as evidence. Signs of a struggle were not found on the scene.

Rescue volunteers of Phuket Ruamjai Rescue Foundation transported the body to Vachira Phuket Hospital for further examination.

Investigator Pol Capt Somgiad questioned the boyfriend of Ms Brown who authorities refused to name. He stated that the couple had been out that night and relaxed at Patong Beach for a while when the conversation unexpectedly turned into a fight.

Hurt by her boyfriend’s words, Ms Brown left Patong Beach and went to their apartment at around 3:00. When her boyfriend returned home three hours later and opened the door, he found Ms Brown dead with a bed sheet wrapped around her neck and the other side connected to a door knob.

Rescue workers briefly tried to resuscitate the woman but quickly gave up. “She had been dead for too long,” Pol Capt Somgiad said.
