A 71-year-old Italian retiree collapsed and died while he was having sexual intercourse with a 22-years-old sex worker at his house in Chon Buri province.
Pol Capt Niwat Pengkaen was notified at 00:30 early on Sunday morning of the death of a foreigner in Nong Prue district. Police and medical staff arrived shortly after at 388/287: a two-storey house in Mu 10 of the Bang Lamung district.
Arriving at the scene, Pol Capt Niwat said, “A few young Thai men were waiting outside and led us to the bedroom on the second floor. In the bedroom, we found the body of a caucasian man lying face-up on the tiled floor next to the bed. He was completely unclothed.”
When local police arrived, rescue workers of the Sawangboribul Foundation were performing cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) in an attempt to keep the man’s heart pumping. However, the victim did not respond to a long effort at resuscitation and a doctor eventually pronounced him dead at the scene.
Pol Capt Niwat initiated an inspection of the victim’s room and identified the deceased man as Italian national, Alberto Pivetti, 71. He later commented, “We did not see any injuries on the body. The windows were closed, and all of his belongings were still in the room. But we were curious as to why he was found completely naked?”.
After speaking to relevant witnesses, Capt Niwat revealed: “One of them, Ey, explainted he was a sex worker and was with Mr Pivetti at the time of his death.”
According to Ey, a shy 22-year-old with a tattoo on his neck, Mr Pivetti had asked him to come to his house earlier in the day. “I went there and we had sex,” said Mr Ey while being filmed by local reporters.
“At some point, we stopped, and he started to masturbate. Maybe he didn’t like it. Then, suddenly, he collapsed and fell to the ground. I was so shocked.” said Mr Ey who then performed CPR for “a minute or so” and shortly after heard the victim’s last breath leaving his body. “After that, he lay totally still. I didn’t know what to do and just called my friends.”
According to Pol Capt Niwat, the two had known each other for a short time: “During the interview, I asked him whether he was often at the victim’s house.” Mr Eye confirmed that he usually met Mr Pivetti at least once per week for sex.
Rescue volunteers transported the body to Police General Hospital in Bangkok for a post-mortem examination. “In the absence of an official post mortem, we surmise that Mr Pivetti died of a heart attack.”
In Italy, ischemic heart disease is the leading cause of death, accounting for more than 75 000 cases per annum. Statistics> show that the likelihood of dying from heart-related issues starts to rise at 45 years and peeks at the age of 80 and above. “At his age, a heart attack is very common,” Pol Capt Niwat said. Mr Pivetti died at the age of 71.
