Allan Birger Bruun

A man tragically bled to death in Phuket after slashing his arm on the glass of his back door. The victim has been named as Allan Birger Bruun, a 41-year-old Danish citizen.

On November 6, Pol Lt Jaras Lempan from the Wichit Provincial Police Station received a call from an emergency Dibuk Hospital ambulance. Shortly after the call, Maj Col Thada Sodarat of the Chalong police arrived at Mr Bruun’s home to investigate the circumstances of his accident.

In a statement to The Phuket News, Col Thada said, “I believe Mr Bruun had accidentally locked himself out of his house and used his elbow to break the glass on the door to get in. As a result, he severed a major artery in his right arm and bled out at the scene.”

Col Thada added, “Emergency services rushed the victim to Dibuk Hospital, but it was too late. Doctors confirmed that he had been diagnosed with a heart condition at the time of his death, but died from exsanguination.”

Mr Bruun’s body was transferred to the Vachira Hospital morgue. The Danish Embassy has been notified of his death.
