A 33-year-old Australian tourist has succumbed to his injuries at a hospital in Patong, Phuket following a fall from the balcony of his hotel room on the 4th floor.
Residents notified the police after witnessing a foreign tourist falling from the balcony of his hotel room at 02:15 early Sunday morning, Pol Lt Col Batiwad Yodkwan confirmed according to several news reports. The incident happened at the C&N Hotel on Ratuthit Songroipi Rd in Patong subdistrict, Kathu district in Phuket.
Rescue volunteers of the Kusoldharm Phuket Foundation arrived before the police and rushed the 33-year-old injured tourist Daniel Jon Partridge to the nearby Patong Hospital. Doctors pronounced him dead shortly later.
Police interviewed Gananek Janbubpa who works at the three-star C&N Hotel. As reported by Matichon Online, Mr Gananek told police that Mr Partridge had checked in to the hotel two days earlier on Friday, June 7, and was due to check out on Monday, June 10. A report> by The Phuket News stated Mr Partridge had been staying at the hotel since June 6.
Since checking in, Mr Partridge had been seen drinking every day, Mr Gananek said, Pol Lt Col Batiwad revealed. He stayed in room 430 on the 4th floor.
In the early hours of Sunday, one witness reportedly saw the Australian tourist climb over the balcony of his room at the back of the building. “Mr Partridge then slipped and fell. He landed on a Nissan car that had been parked in the parking lot below the balcony,” Pol Lt Col Batiwad said.
In an initial report, Pol Lt Col Batiwad wrote that police have yet to search Mr Partridge’s room which was locked from the inside when investigators arrived on the scene. His body was sent to the morgue where medical examiners are going to confirm the cause of death officially.
