Eric Seldin

The Foreign Correspondents’ Club of Thailand has reported the death of one of its long-time members. The US-born journalist reportedly died from “a sudden cardiac failure”, an article on the club’s website said.

According to the article, Eric Seldin, 58, died on Wednesday, January 24 at Mission Hospital Bangkok. He had been unwell in recent years and was awaiting bypass surgery. “Our thoughts are with his mother, Helene, and his wife, Sorathorn Vichaino (Mott).”

Mr Seldin, who grew up in New York, had been based as a freelance cameraman in Thailand since 1992. He was a popular member of the FCCT, who served on the executive committee a number of times. Six months before his death, he gave an interview to the Canadian Chamber of Commerce.
