Police have identified the body of a foreign man found on Surin Beach in Phuket province on the morning of March 26.
“We received a report at about 7:00 that someone working out on the beach had come across the body. The dead man was face down in the sand with his arms crossed and pressed against his chest when we got there” said Lt Peerasit Nhupayan of the Cherng Talay Police.
Since the man was carrying no documents, police was not able to identify the man on the scene. However, after becoming suspicious about a Nissan Sunny car that had been parked at a parking lot near the beach, he was identified the following day as 66-year-old Georges Carraz from England.
“There were no signs of a struggle on the beach and no visible injuries, except for a plaster on one of his feet,” Lt Peerasit said.
“We believe that he died about six hours before his body was found, so we are looking for witnesses and CCTV evidence that might give us a clue about what had happened,” Lt Peerasit said.
Cherng Talay Police have confirmed that the man’s relatives have been notified while doctors have yet to conclude the cause of death.
