Hanspeter Frutiger, a Swiss national, has succumbed to his injuries in the intensive care unit of a government hospital in Nathon, Koh Samui. The 64-year-old was pronounced dead late at night on December 29.
Mr Frutiger, who was a well-known expatriate on the island and owner of several restaurants, had been involved in a motorbike accident earlier. The accident occurred close to Big C Center in Bo Phut where Mr Frutier broke his thigh and injured his head.
After undergoing a surgery on December 22, complications emerged and a brain swelling made Mr Frutiger fall into a coma, requiring him to be respired artificially. Shortly after, he died in the ICU of Koh Samui Hospital.
Mr Futiger is survived by his two children.
