Hieronymus Cornelis Maria Boumans

Police in Kanchanaburi have reported that Dutch National Hieronymus Cornelis Maria Boumans, 52 was killed after being run over by a moving tourist train in Sai Yok district on Wednesday.

According to the Bangkok Post the incident occurred at Ban Pu Pong station in Moo 5 village of tambon Tha Sao at about 16:00.

Pol Lt Kasarn Para, a duty officer at Sai Yok police station, said Boumans and his family left Nam Tok (waterfall) station for Thonburi station in Bangkok at about 3.30pm.

As the train was pulling away from Ban Pu Pong station, Boumans was standing on a carriage ladder and fell while his right hand was still holding on to the steel handrail. He was thrown into a gap between the fourth and fifth carriages, pulled onto the track and crushed to death beneath the train.

It was the third death involving the Thonburi-Nam Tok route train in about a month.
