Huang Xifei

A Chinese woman on vacation in Chiang Mai was killed when she was run over by a speeding car following a shopping outing.

The Nation reported that the accident took place on Thursday, August 30, 2018. The woman, who was identified as Huang Xifei, 21, was hit by a vehicule close to the Big C Supercenter on Hwy Chiang Mai-Lampang Frontage Rd in Mueang Chiang Mai district.

According to The Nation, Ms Xifei and her friend had only arrived in the city two days prior to the accident, and were trying to cross the road to get back to their hotel after a short shopping expedition.

The driver of the car, whose name was withheld by police, stated that Ms Xifei suddenly appeared on the road out of nowhere making it impossible for him to swerve to avoid her even at the last minute.
