A woman from China on vacation in Chiang Mai killed after she was hit by a car following a shopping tour.

The Nation reported that the deadly incident took place on Thursday, August 30, 2018. The woman, who was identified as Huang Xifei, 21, collided with a speeding car close to Big C Supercenter on Hwy Chiang Mai-Lampang Frontage Rd in Mueang Chiang Mai district.

According to the article, Ms Xifei had been shopping at Big C and were on their way back to the hotel when the accident happened.

The driver of the car, whose name was withheld, told police that Ms Xifei suddenly appeared while attempting to cross the road, making it impossible to stop in time.

Ms Xifei and her friend had been visiting the city since Tuesday, The Nation wrote.
