Jiao Kaimin

A 59-year-old Chinese tourist drowned in waters off Lan island on Tuesday afternoon. The victim was named as Mr Jiao Kaimin and had been taken to Lan Island as part of an Air Asia-organized tour group.

The guide responsible for the group was Khun Tidarat who noticed Mr Kaimin was nowhere to be seen after going for a swim. A frantic search was made and after 10 minutes the body of the tourist was recovered from the water.

The Chinese embassy in Bangkok has been informed and police recorded the incident as “Death by Misadventure” pending the results of a post-mortem examination.
