John Anthony Augus

Once again a foreigner has committed suicide by jumping from the 10th floor of his condominium in Pattaya, Chon Buri province, Thai language news website Daily News reported.

Jomtien Police Station received a call about the apparent suicide shortly after midnight on Sunday. When they arrived together with rescue workers, they discovered the body of Mr John Anthony Augus, a 79-year-old retired English businessman, laying in a pool of blood on the ground of his condominium’s car park.

A neighbor, Ms Elizabeth Louise, told police officers that Mr Augus had been suffering from skin cancer. When his condition started to worsen two weeks ago, Mr Augus told Ms Louise about his plans to commit suicide by jumping from the balcony of his condominium. But since Mr Augus was bound to a wheelchair, she did not think he could execute his plan without assistance.

Police did not find any signs of foul play inside the room of the deceased. His body has been sent to Sattahip Hospital for a post-mortem examination.
