A swimming trip ended deadly for a Japanese tourist. He drowned in front of his wife while swimming at Koh Samet.
Investigating officer Pol Maj Sagon Kamyingyong was notified by rescue volunteers who rushed the unconscious Japanese man to Rayong Hospital. However, even before officers could arrive at the hospital, the man, identified as 60-year-old Komiya Nasadoshi (name transliterated), was pronounced dead.
The investigation revealed that Mr Nasadoshi had been swimming in Sapparod Bay on the popular holiday island Koh Samet in Rayong province. His wife did not enter the water. Instead, she stayed on the beach where, helplessly, she had to witness her husband drowning.
The couple had arrived on the island on December 6 and were scheduled to leave on December 10, one day after the fatal accident.
