A Japanese software programmer committed suicide by jumping from the 8th floor of his Bangkok condominium early on Thursday morning.
Kurashina Hirochika, 37, had been staying at the Raintree Villa Condo in Soi Sukhumvit 53. At around 2:30 early on Thursday morning, a security guard heard a loud ground impact and informed the police as soon as he saw the immobile body of the Japanese tenant who was wearing a green T-shirt and blue beach shorts.
Officers from Thong Lor Police Station inspected the scene along with an emergency physician at King Chulalongkorn Memorial Hospital. The right arm and the neck of Mr Hirochika were fractured which most like had caused the death.
“On the top of the roof, we found four empty cans of beer, three used-up packs of steroids, slippers and a plastic chair,” Pol Lt Col Nopadon reported. The guard who found the body told police that Mr Hirochika had rented the 25,000 baht unit over the last three years.
Pol Lt Col Nopadon Samat, who is in charge of the investigation, said that officers checked room no. 108/2 on the first floor where the deceased had been staying. They did not find any signs of violence but found a letter addressed to his parents written in English and Japanese. Pol Lt Col Nopadon later revealed. “We know that he had been sick for a while. In the letter, he complained about his deteriorating health.”
An initial report describes Mr Hirochika as an insular person who gave the impression he suffered from depression. He rarely talked to anyone and tended to avoid eye contact with people he met.
“We think that this and his health issue were the reasons why he ended up killing himself,” Pol Lt Col Nopadon said. The body of Mr Hirochika has been sent to King Chulalongkorn Memorial Hospital to confirm the cause of death.
