Leong Thin Sung
Hat Yai police are investigating the death of an elderly Malaysian national who was found dead in his hotel room in Songkhla province on Wednesday, Manager Online reported.
Pol Maj Somgiart Khamsuwan, an investigator from Hat Yai Provincial Police Station, was called at around 14:00 to a hotel on Sripoovanart Rd in Hat Yai district to investigate the death of Mr Leong Thin Sung, 61, from Malaysia. Police found the lifeless body of the man lying naked in the filled bathtub inside the bathroom of his hotel room.
Police questioned the maid who had first discovered the corpse. She told police that she had been on her daily cleaning routine when she arrived at Mr Leong’s room no. 416 at noon. After knocking at the door without getting any response, she assumed the room was empty and used her master key to gain access. That was when she made the gruesome discovery, she said.
Pol Maj Somgiart revealed the body showed no visible injuries or any marks of violence indicating that a crime had occurred. Instead, the investigator found out that Mr Leong had been a regular guest at the hotel because he had been suffering from several medical conditions that forced him to seek medical treatment in Hat Yai on a monthly basis.
Based on his findings, Pol Maj Somgiart assumed his health issues caused Mr Leong to lose consciousness while taking a bath where he eventually drowned. However, Thong Sia Siang rescue volunteers sent the body to Hat Yai Hospital where an autopsy is scheduled to determine the cause of death from a pathological point of view.
