A British tourist is reported to have died at a shooting range in Thailand after turning a pistol on himself. Reports from Phuket named the man as 21-year-old Liam Colven, from Portree on the Isle of Skye.
CCTV at the Thalang shooting range is said to have captured the moments before his death with a 45mm automatic handgun. Witnesses said that minutes earlier, he was heard having a row over the phone – then shot the gun at a target, hitting the bullseye seven times.
Footage is then said to show him reloading, but the camera is understood not have captured the actual shooting.
The Phuket Gazette said a taxi driver who picked up Mr Colven from a hotel at Bang Tao heard him arguing with someone on the phone while being driven to the range.
A Foreign Office spokesman said: “We can confirm the death of a British national in Thailand and are providing consular assistance to the family at this difficult time.”
