Michael Walter

Police are trying to identify the motive that may have caused a German tourist to jump to his death from the 4th floor of a car park at Suvarnabhumi Airport.

Mr Michael Walter, 45, was found lying on the 1st floor in front of the outbound passenger building at Suvarnabhumi Airport in Samut Prakan province at 16:23 Thursday afternoon. Police said the German tourist had suffered life-threatening injuries to his head and neck.

Mr Walter was immediately rushed to Samitivej Srinakarin Hospital hospital. However, doctors were not able to save Mr Walter’s life  because of the severity of his injuries. He passed away shortly after arriving at the hospital.

Investigators analysed CCTV footage from within the building. The recording showed Mr Walter putting down his bag before running and jumping over the barrier. Police treat the death as a suicide.
