In Samut Prakan, a Burmese man was stabbed to death by a female compatriot after he attempted to assault her while she was preparing to take a bath.
Deputy investigator Pol Capt Kiarttisak Kerdchoke at Bang Sao Thong Provincial Police Station received the information at 07:20. The man was identified only as “Nai”, 20. He was found dead in a pool of blood inside an apartment on the third floor of the Wanna apartment building in the Bang Sao Thong district.
“The body of the man indicated a stab wound in his left chest,” Pol Capt Kiarttisak said. Police also discovered a six centimetre long knife stained with blood in the middle of the floor.
The apartment tenant, a 21-year-old female from Myanmar, spoke to police through an interpreter. “She said she was about to take a bath before going to work at an auto parts factory nearby,” police said.
Only covered with a towel, she heard someone knocking on her door. “She assumed it was her elder sister who lived in the same apartment, in room opposite hers,” Pol Capt Kiarttisak said.
When she opened the bathroom door, the man pushed her inside and grabbed her in an attempt to assault her sexually. She tried to resist, but he pushed her down to the floor. She managed to grab a knife nearby and stabbed the intruder in the chest before escaping from the bathroom.
The woman said that the same man had knocked on the door of her room the previous night and asked for someone. She described him as looking ‘suspicious’, so she did not reply and kept the door shut.
A friend of “Nai” said they had been sharing a room on the second floor of the same building for about one week. On Saturday morning, his friend left the room without saying where he was going.
Police are examining CCTV footage to learn more. Police brought the woman and other witnesses in the case to Bang Sao Thong Provincial Police Station for further questioning.
