Ola Happy Halle
It was supposed to be a relaxed holiday at a seaside resort in Phetchaburi province for a Norwegian and his Thai wife. But shortly after he left for a walk at the beach one evening, he was found drowned.
Ola Happy Halle, a Norwegian at the age of 65, was found dead in the early morning of December 10, 2014, Pol Lt Natchari Siriwarin said. „We found his body at the beach at Cha-Am after residents had informed us,“ the investigator of Cha-Am Provincial Police Station told Manager Online.
Thais who had found the man rushed to pull him out of the water hoping that arriving rescue volunteers could save the life of Mr Halle. „However,“ Pol Lt Natchari added, „he had already drowned. There was nothing they could do for him.“
According to the investigation, Mr Halle and his 44-year-old wife, who live in Nakhon Ratchasima province, were on vacation in a hotel close to the beach in Cha-Am district.
Before his death, Mr Halle’s wife told him that he was going out for a walk on the beach. When she did not hear from him for more than an hour, she became concerned and went down to check on him. A friend then gave her the shocking news.
Why and how Mr Halle drowned has yet to be determined. Police said that they believe a pre-existing medical condition might have contributed to his death.
