Pape Modou Jange

The body of a young Senegalese man was found floating in Saen Saep canal in Bangkok Tuesday morning, Thai news website Matichon Online reports.

Pol Capt Pichet Saengkhachai from Hua Mak Police Station and Poh Tek Tung rescue volunteers discovered the body after residents informed authorities at around 9:00. He was pulled out of the canal near Soi Ramkhamhaeng 85 in Hua Mak area of Bangkapi district behind Alexander Hotel.

Inside the pockets of the fully dressed man, police found 60 baht in cash and a key chain but no identification documents. He was identified the following day as 25-year-old Pape Modou Jange from Senegal.

Investigators questioned the 47-year-old wife of the deceased and learned her husband had gone missing two days earlier.

The body of Mr Jange has been sent to Royal Thai Police Hospital to determine the cause of death.
