Patrick William

The Thai wife of an American teacher was devastated when she learned about her husband committing suicide in his home in Krabi province.

Mueang Krabi Provincial Police Station had been notified about the apparent suicide of a foreign national at around 11:40 Tuesday morning. Deputy investigator Pol Capt Sanya Gaeonui, a medical examiner from Krabi Hospital and volunteers from Prachasuntisook Rescue Foundation, were then dispatched to the scene.

Arriving at the fenced home in Pak Nam subdistrict, Mueang district, police discovered the dead body of a man who would be identified as 65-year-old American English teacher Patrick William. According to Pol Capt Sanya, Mr William was lying on the ground at the back of his house. He was only dressed in navy blue shorts.

At the frame of a window next to the door, investigators discovered a nylon rope that had been attached to Mr William’s neck.

Questioning the 38-year-old wife of the deceased, who works as a housekeeper, she told police her husband had recently quit working as an English teacher at a Krabi boarding school. He reportedly increased to appear suffering from depression for which he was treated with anti-depression drugs.

On the day of his death, she said, she went out for work but as his spouse returned, she found her husband hanged in the back of their house. Mr William’s body has been sent to Krabi Hospital for further examination.
