A French holidaymaker was found dead shortly after his family checked into a bungalow in Phuket.

Ch7 News reported that a man, Pedro Manuel Da Costa (44), was found by his eldest son in the bathroom of his rented bungalow (no. 44) on Friday morning. Mr Costa and his wife and three children had been staying in Phuket’s Rawai subdistrict on holiday.

According to the Ch7 News report, the victim’s son was staying in the same bungalow. H became worried when Mr Costa spent an unusually long time in the bathroom. Police said, he went to check on him and discovered his body lying on his side on the bathroom floor with a major head laceration. All subsequent attempts to resuscitate the Frenchman failed.

Police are still unable to determine the cause of death. An unnamed source suggested that he might have slipped in the bathroom and died from his head wound.. Rescue workers transported his body to a Vachira Phuket Hospital where a full post mortem will be carried out to establish the most likely cause of death.
