Rang Gu Au
Police arrested a murder suspect only hours after the body of a Burmese national was found at Rassada Pier in Phuket’s Mueang district.
Pol Maj Nucharee Longkaew of Phuket Provincial Police station sad that “[t]he body of Rang Gu Au, 29, was found lying in a pool of blood with multiple stab wounds to his body.” He had been stabbed in the shoulder which caused him to bleed to death,” Pol Maj Nucharee said in a press conference.
Police omitted the full name of the victim retaliation by relatives and friends of the deceased and only named him by his nickname Nat. He was arrested in his room near the fishing port at around 18:30. Officers frisked the alleged killer and found him to be in a possession of a knife with a 16-centimetre long blade.
“Mr Nat confessed to stabbing Mr Rang, after the victim had allegedly attacked one of Mr Nat’s friends with his bare hands because of a dispute about a rented motorcycle,” Maj Nucharee said.
Police have charged Mr Nat with assault causing death that carries a maximum penalty of 15 to 20 years imprisonment.
