Robin Daniel Abbot

A 39-year-old British man who had just arrived back from England was found hanged in his home in Phuket. Police are assuming it was a suicide.

The Phuket News reported that the body of Robin Daniel Abbot, 39, from Southampton in England, was discovered by his wife at a luxury property in Moo 7 in Kathu district. She notified the police at 17:30 on Saturday afternoon.

Pol Capt Nipon Temsang of Kathu Provincial Police Station, his police team and forensic investigators went to the location and found Mr Abbot’s body in a storeroom below the main staircase: suspended from a beam by a single rope. Four letters were bagged as evidence at the scene, but it is unknown whether the deceased wrote or received the letters and their role, if any, in the circumstances of Mr Abbot’s death.

Officers questioned Mr Abbot’s wife, Mrs Supaporn. She stated that her husband had recently returned from a trip to England and that everything between them was normal: they were on good terms.

Kusoldharm rescue workers took the body to Vachira Phuket Hospital for an autopsy, but police strongly suspect suicide.

Authorities have notified Mr Abbot’s immediate family of his death. The investigation continues.
