Roman Makarov

Pattaya Sea Rescue Units were called to Larn Island, 4 kilometers off the coast of Pattaya on Tuesday morning following the discovery of a body, thought to be a Russian who went missing 2 days prior to the discovery.

The man was identified as Mr Roman Makarov, 47, from Russia. He was still wearing a mask and snorkel and was washed-up on Hasaem Beach on the Island. He had gone to the island 2 days before with his girlfriend who was left on the beach while Mr Makarov went snorkeling.

Police suspect Mr Roman Makarov suffered an acute medical problem as the mouthpiece of the snorkel was still inside his mouth when the body was found. A post-mortem examination will take place and the Russian Embassy in Bangkok has been informed.
