Sergei Nikolaevich Sugadaev

A collision with a tour bus killed a 25-year-old Russian motorcycle rider in Pattaya on Tuesday morning.

Pattaya Provincial Police Station was informed about the fatal accident at around 10:00 Tuesday morning. Investigators, rescue workers and paramedics rushed to the scene at the Dolphin Roundabout in Pattaya’s (Chon Buri) Bang Lamung subdistrict.

The victim, 25-year-old Sergei Nikolaevich Sugadaev, was found lying face-down underneath the rear of the heavy coach. He had sustained several injuries to his head and lost a massive amount of blood, paramedics noted. About ten metres further was the damaged black Honda motorcycle (license plate: ฬกษ-526 Bangkok) the victim had driven.

Police asked bystanders who had witnessed the fatal accident. A man said that Mr Sugadaev was riding along Naklua Rd on the left-hand side of a coach, owned by S.C. Somchai Service, when the driver took an unexpected and sharp turn to the left into Soi 29/1.

Surprised by the sudden manoeuvre and unable to break in time, Mr Sugadaev was knocked off and then run over by the rear wheels of the couch. Paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene and sent his body to Bang Lamung Hospital for an autopsy.

The shocked Thai driver of the bus, whose name was withheld by police, has been arrested and is being charged with reckless driving causing death.
