A fishing trip ended in death for a 34-year-old man from Myanmar.  His body, swept away by high waves on Tuesday, has now been found.

Residents of a village about three kilometres from Patong Beach in Phuket called the police after spotting a lifeless body between two rocks. Officers from Patong Provincial Police Station and Kusoldharm rescue volunteers recovered the corpse at 07:45 on Wednesday morning.

A Burmese man, who police only named as So, had been missing since Tuesday when he was swept overboard by a high wave while on a fishing trip with two other men. The incident happened near Paradise Viewpoint Restaurant opposite Soi Phabaramei 9 in Kalim.

The search for Mr So had to be cancelled on Tuesday due to poor weather conditions at sea. Once his body was recovered, it was sent to Patong Hospital for forensic examination.
