A 25-year-old French tourist has succumbed to his injuries sustained on today after being in a coma following a severe motorbike accident on February 22,

Mr Mamèche and his girlfriend had just began their vacation on the popular holiday island Phuket. When he rented a scooter to explore the beautiful beaches of the island with his girlfriend, a car suddenly cut their way and caused the scooter to crash.

His girlfriend only suffered minor injuries whereas Mr Mamèche was in a critical condition and rushed to private Wachira Phuket Hospital where he fell into a coma. The 25-year-old died three days later on February 25 in the intensive care unit. The exact cause of death is still being examined.

Since then, Mr Mamèche’s mother, Mrs Malika Mamèche, has started a fundraising campaign  to pay for the hospital bill totalling 960,000 baht and an additional 2,900,000 baht for his transport back to his home country. As of today, donations worth over 80,000 euro have been collected.
