Thiebau Hylie

A 52-year-old French woman was killed after being hit by a speedboat while snorkelling at Koh Poda in this coastal province on Tuesday afternoon.

The tourist, who was identified as Thiebau Hylie, was struck in the head around 16:00 by the boat propeller on the southern end of Poda island, said Pol Lt Col Anurak Prinyasathirakul, a Krabi marine police inspector.

The speedboat driver continued on toward Phuket. The Krabi Pitak Pracha rescue foundation posted on its Facebook page that a hunt was launched to arrest the captain. The speedboat belonged to Amazing Canoeing Group Co Lt.

Boat captain Yothin Suebsak later turned himself in to Thalang police in Phuket and would be handed over to Krabi police for legal action.
