Vadim Volkov

One Russian tourist was killed and two other foreigners seriously injured after the tourist was hit by a speeding motorcycle.

At around 03:30 on February 8, Pattaya City Police Station and rescue volunteers were called to the scene of a fatal accident on Pattaya’s Sai Song Rd in Chon Buri province.

A Russian tourist, Mr Vadim Volkov, 25, was pronounced dead at the scene. Two other foreigners, who are yet to be identified, suffered some severe injuries and were rushed to a nearby hospital.

An eye witness to the accident told police that he was taking to a group of three Russian tourists, which included Mr Volkov, about how their night was.

Mr Volkov suddenly decided to cross the busy road but did not pay attention to the traffic coming from both directions. He was then hit by a speeding Ducati motorcycle in front of Pattaya Sai Song Soi 7

The impact of the crash catapulted Mr Volkov through the air before being hit by a baht bus, also travelling at high speed. The Ducati slammed into another parked vehicle, and the driver and his pillion passenger were left lying in the middle of the road.

Rescue volunteers were called immediately, but by the time they arrived at the scene, Mr Volkov had already passed away. The other foreigner involved was still alive. Paramedics rendered first aid and rushed him to a local hospital for further treatment.

Police have yet to question the driver of the Ducati as he is still in a critical state. The Russian Embassy has been informed of the death of Mr Volkov.
