Vincent Jean Emmanuel

A quarrel with his Thai girlfriend ended in tragedy when a young Frenchman jumped to his death from the 26th floor of his Bangkok condominium Wednesday evening.

Police investigators arrived together with paramedics and volunteers from Poh Tek Tung Foundation on the scene in Soi Sathon 12, Silom, Bangrak in Bangkok. Yannawa Police Station had received the report of a dead foreign male at The Address Sathorn on 21:30 and dispatched investigators and police officers to the location.

Next to the building, officers discovered the lifeless body of Vincent Jean Emmanuel, 31, from France, lying face-up on the walkway. He was wearing a blue t-shirt, jeans and a pair of sports shoes. Paramedics said the fall had caused numerous fractures, including his skull, arms, and legs.

In room no. 371 on the 26th floor of the condominium where Mr Emmanuel had lived, police did not find any signs of a struggle or violence.

His Thai girlfriend told investigators Mr Emmanuel had lived in the apartment alone. Before the incident, the two were quarrelling on the phone. After he had hung up, he sent her a photo of him sitting on the edge of the building with his legs dangling in the air.

His girlfriend tried to call him, but he did not answer his phone. When she made her way to his condominium, she found the body of Mr Emmanuel, who had already passed away.

The body was transported to King Chulalongkorn Memorial Hospital for further examination.
