Police in Chiang Mai confirmed that they discovered the body of an elderly Japanese man. He was found in his car at a massage parlour.
Chang Klan Provincial Police Station was notified of the incident on June 27 after receiving a report about a dead man in a car which was parked at a massage parlour in Chan Khan district.
The man was later identified as Japanese Yoshiaki Aihara, 69. He was found sitting in the driver’s seat with all doors locked and windows closed. Police believe Mr Aihara passed away at least three days before he was found.
A relative of Mr Aihara told investigators that left the house in his car, a Honda CV-R, in the morning of June 23rd as usual. But when Mr Aihara did not return home, the family member filed a missing person report at Chang Klan Provincial Police Station.
A person close to Mr Aihara said that he was a kind person and has been living in Thailand for 40 years. Six years earlier, his Thai wife passed away. It is unlikely that Mr Aihara had any enemies, a family member told police.
Police are now gathering further evidence to find out how Mr Aihara died.
